The Alberta Regional Working Group (Alberta RWG) of the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement (CBFA) warmly welcomes Frank Oberle as its new facilitator.
Frank joins the CBFA as a facilitator for the work of the signatories in Alberta. Frank combines broad experience in leadership and facilitation with extensive knowledge of resource management problems and solutions. Frank’s experience includes private sector forest industry employment in three Provinces. Frank also has extensive public sector experience, having been elected as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Alberta for the riding of Peace River and serving in that capacity for over 10 years. Frank served on various committees of the Legislature during his tenure, he served as the Chief Government Whip, and he held a number of portfolios in the provincial cabinet including Solicitor General (2010 to 2011), Minister of Sustainable Resource Development (2011 to 2012), Associate Minister of Human Services (2012 to 2013) Minister of Aboriginal Relations (2013 to 2014) and most recently Minister of Energy for Alberta (2014 to 2015).
Frank’s background has put him at the heart of public engagement exercises, Aboriginal engagement exercises, industry/environment round tables, multi-stakeholder research partnerships, and cross-sectoral issues tables. Frank has successfully facilitated and chaired numerous processes at regional, Provincial, and National scales.
